"You will not know until you get to heaven what you have done for my village today."

Oi!

On our last day of ministry, a villager named Alfredo spent his whole day bringing people to his village of Sao Francisco to receive help from the Amazon Outreach ministries. He needed dental help but he was unaware he needed to sign up. After his hours of serving the villagers, the dental team found out that Alfredo also needed care. It was the last day of ministry and the last few hours, but they were able to add him at the end of the day.

At dusk, as some of us were headed back to the boat, I met Alfredo coming off the boat with his new smile. The dental team was able to restore his two front teeth.

He kept saying..."Alegria! Alegria!", and I know enough Portuguese to know he was saying, "Joy! Joy! He gave me several big hugs and kept pointing at his teeth. A translator finally arrived and said Alredo was saying..., "You will not know until you get to heaven what you have done for my village today."

When I got on the boat, I was amazed at how joyful I was too. It was like Jesus himself gave me that hug and spoke those words to me. It was a special moment that reminded me of why we do what we do.

Thank you for being a part of our work by helping restore dignity in Jesus' name to "The Forgotten People" of the Amazon!
