Q & A: Meet Angela!

Angela joined Amazon Outreach in 2016. She was born in Brazil, adopted by a missionary family and grew up between both Brazil and American cultures. After going on mission trips to the Amazon, she now uses her gifts and talents in her new role of medical missions with Amazon Outreach.

Q: Where did you grow up?
A: I grew up in Brazil from ages six up to eighteen.  My parents were missionaries there and are now retired.  I grew up speaking both English and Portuguese which makes things even more exciting!  I went to Pensacola Christian College and graduated with a bachelors in Nursing in 2011.  For the past four years I have been living in the Tampa Bay area, Florida and working as a Cardiac ICU nurse.   I also have worked while in college as a camp counselor and I love working with teens and children!

Q: What is your role with Amazon Outreach?
A:  During my time with Amazon Outreach I will be assisting in the medical aspect of the mission.  My jobs as medical can be from triage to pharmacist.  I will be also helping with translation and evangelism.  I am very excited to use what God has given me to further the Gospel! On the weeks Amazon Outreach doesn’t have a missions group coming down, I will help promote Amazon Outreach to the Brazilian churches across Brazil by social media and visitation.

Q: What makes you most excited for Amazon Outreach?
A: So many different aspects of working with Amazon Outreach excite me! The medical care, teaching the children, translating, getting to know more missions team groups, the Amazon jungle, worship out on the boat with the gorgeous sunsets, and most importantly getting to share Christ’s love and seeing people come to Him!

Q: How can we be praying for you?
A: Please pray for knowledge and critical thinking when faced with different medical challenges that might come up as we have very limited resources.  Also for a smooth transition to my life in Amazon and also for my family which will be left behind.  My father has many, many health issues and my mother takes care of his daily activities and needs.  This is also a great leap of faith for me financially, so that God will provide for my financial needs!  Pray for wisdom, opportunities and boldness in sharing the Gospel as Paul says, ”For I am not ashamed of the Gospel…” Romans 1:16
