A Message from our Executive Director – Steve Trammell

I would like to introduce myself.  My name is Steve Trammell and in a few short weeks, I will become the new Executive Director of Amazon Outreach.

I am married to my best friend, Linda.  We have three grown children we love (one married into the family) and a three-month-old grandson (Rylan) that has stolen our hearts.  The past 18 years, I have had the privilege of pastoring LifePoint Fellowship Church in Tyler, Texas.

The most important thing I want you to know is that I love Jesus, spreading the gospel, and helping people.

I would also like to share why I am leaving the church I love to join Amazon Outreach.  Like many of you receiving this email, my life was changed on the Amazon River.  It was there that I experienced the closest thing to New Testament Christianity I have ever known.

On my first trip, I was inspired with the vision of launching a Hispanic ministry back home.  That decision revolutionized my church, and this past year has been the best of my 18 years there.  It has made leaving harder, but I have peace.

God confirmed His calling on my last trip.  When I returned, I tried to tell my wife about it … I could not stop weeping.  She finally said, “Just tell me what your feeling.”  I told her I felt if I didn’t do this, something in me would die!  She said, “Then I guess you’re going to the Amazon.”  It was an exciting, yet scary moment for both of us.

I recently shared the news with my church in a Christmas message I called, “Blindsided.”  Mary had her own plans, but God blindsided her with His.  It would be more difficult, yet more wonderful, than she could have ever planned for herself.  After her initial shock, she rejoiced that God had chosen her for such an important role in His redemption plan.

Like Mary, I have been blindsided by His calling.  I also feel so honored and excited for the opportunity to lead this great mission.  I know it will be challenging, but also believe it will be wonderful.

I invite you to come alongside us as we build on our great past by working towards a more strategic future.  We are calling this strategic vision, Amazon Outreach 2.0.  We are confident that it will assist us in helping our partners reach more people for Christ.

I would love to hear from you and meet you in person one day soon.  My personal contact information is (903) 520-2167 and steve@amazonoutreach.org .

Great Days Ahead,

Steve Trammell

“What shall I return to the Lord for all his goodness to me?  I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord.  I will fulfill my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people” (Ps. 116:12-14).
